BORN:  21 November 1848, New Britain, Hartford, Connecticut
DIED: 1 March 1908, Pittsfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts

ACTIVE:

Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, 1896–c1901
Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, dates unknown

Farmer (1865), Student (1870), Piano Man (1880–1884)

*According to his obituaries, George Hale was engaged in the photography business in Boston and Springfield, while maintaining his family home and a small studio in his hometown. Only once, in the 1896 Boston City Directory, did I find an independent reference to George Hale practicing photography in either city. A second reference in 1901 suggests that George Hale "from Boston" was spending his vacation in South Deerfield. There are a few newspaper references to Hale taking photos in Franklin and Berkshire Counties in the mid-1900s. The only studio he appears to have owned was in South Deerfield.
