*Vaclav appears to have Americanized his name to James W. Freedle. Sometimes also written as Friedel. Professionally, he was James until 1892 and then went by Vaclav from 1892-1899, after which he reassumed use of the name James. While it is a supposition that Vaclav and James are one person, they lived at the same residences and worked at the same addresses, usually with brother Frank, and never simultaneously.
